WAEC Says 'NO' To CBT

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has disclosed that it may not adopt the computer-based test (CBT) in the conduct of its assessment.

This was made known by the Zonal Planner of the examination body in Abuja, Yusuf Ari.

According to him, despite the fact that CBT has proven to reduce examination malpractice, the panel will still stick to the old method due to nature of its assessment.

He mentioned that the council does not only conduct examination in city area but also non-urban areas unlike JAMB. Once again, the council conducts evaluation in over 80 subject matter with many of them having components. English Language for instance, comes in three components, consisting of practical, theory and oral.
This individual however added that the council may consider the option after enough facilities such as sufficient personal computers, steady power supply and other infrastructural provisions are guaranteed.
